Empire of the East didn't seem have that strong departing lesson. There were It was an easy decision to give this book four stars. I enjoyed the overarching story, and the writing is was very fluid/5. I read this after reading The Complete Book of Swords The Complete Book of Swords (Omnibus, Volumes 1, 2, 3) by Saberhagen, which I'd highly recommend reading, even before this book.
I really liked the world the author created for Book of Swords and had heard that in Empire of the East you'll get more backstory about that world/5(57). The Empire of the East straddles the line between those genres. It is set in a future time when magic is powerful and most technology is primitive.
An utterly evil empire (the East) is conquering the free world. In the course of this novel, good overcomes evil and sorcery is banished/5(53). An enjoyable and engaging read, Ardneh's Sword bridges the gap between two epic series: The Empire of the East, and The Book of Swords, both of which are required reading for Sci-Fi/Fantasy enthusiasts.
The book brings us the story of Chance Rolfson, descendent of one of the protoganists of the original "Empire" series, on a quest to find the /5.
